Is It Right To Double Dip
Sun 05 Feb 2012
The trend for dipping canapés is now bigger than ever. From Cumbrian sausages to apricot risotto balls you name it you can dip it. But the problem is these canapés are always too big for the one dip. So the question on the blog this week is. Is it right to double dip? In other words should you dunk into the sauce more than once? Is it bad manners, is it a health hazard and more importantly do you double dip?

Hen Night Destination Unknown - Whetstone
Thu 12 Jan 2012
Well thought it was about time for another Hen Night destination unknown blog as it’s been a while. So this blog post is all about a Hen Party in Whetstone. Whetstone is situated in the Borough of Barnet N20 North London one stop from the end of the Northern Line. Providing ideal transport links in central London. Not overrun with Hen Do’s at all but still packed full of great restaurants and bars providing a great location for the btb who wants a more toned down affair.
It has got a couple of the typical chains including Ask and Pizza Express however it’s also got some great independents. Whetstone has got the soon to be opened Stone Marquee along with the well-established Italian restaurant Alfresco. If you’re looking for something trendy and on the posh side then try The Haven. Once you and the girls have finished you can carry on in the Griffin or Three Horse Shoes. Or even go past the houses with 2 million pound plus price tags to the Orange Tree. Need accommodation not a problem Whetstone has a Travel Lodge with great deals even at the weekend. Traveling from outside the local area not a problem. Whetstone can be accessed easily from central London via the Northern Line. Traveling by car from the north then it’s straight down the A1 for you. Whetstone offers an opportunity to shop in central London during the day and then for a chilled out Hen Party at night.
A Tube Theme For Your London Hen Night
Tue 03 Jan 2012
Christmas 2011 sore a number of my friends attend tube (London Underground) theme parties. After a little while I thought what a great idea for a London Hen Party especially if you are doing the Circle Line pub crawl. You could go as Patsy from Abfab or Amy Winehouse for High Barnet or a Green Witch for Grenwich. If you wanted to go as Cockfosters I’m sure we could find something for you. You could even go as a carnival queen for Notting Hill or A King for Kings Cross there are 250 stations to choose from so the ideas are endless.

What's The Worst That Could Happen At The Wedding Breakfast
Wed 21 Dec 2011
Many things may worry you about what could happen at the Wedding Breakfast, your dads dancing, your brother’s inability to take his drink, even your best friend’s husband’s behaviour. But perhaps it’s your own actions as the bride you need to worry about. What do I mean well take a look at this YouTube video clip? After watching you might want to practice your aim and fill out your risk assessments.
My Wedding Buffett Rant
Sun 11 Dec 2011
O.K so this is my rant about poor wedding buffets. Not just any buffet but the evening buffet. Why should the evening guests be treated like second-class guests? Even if only invited them so you don’t feel bad. Today’s blog is about not letting the less desirable catering get away with it.
As Brides, Grooms and wedding planners why are you letting them get away with it? Get away with what you may ask. Well apart from lack of innovation and inspiration in the evening buffet. Should you be letting get away with left over sausages from breakfast being put on sticks with cheese? Should you let them be getting away with Sara Lee cakes only semi defrosted? At the end of the day everyone has to make a profit. But in my opinion sometimes they take it to far on the evening buffet. Is it right they use frozen produce from the cheapest catering suppliers around. Wedding planners start demanding handmade quiche and scotch eggs. Brides and Grooms refuse to book a venue that has no passion for food. Perhaps we should get Jamie Oliver to do one of him campaigns. Finanlly a big well done to those establishments that do put the effort into the wedding buffet.
Messing With The Wedding Cake Could You?
Thu 01 Dec 2011
After all the hard work that has gone into finding the right cake and the work that has gone into making it. Not to mention all the money that you have put into your wedding cake. Could you and your new husband do this to your wedding cake?

Think Outside The Box For Your Wedding Venue
Fri 14 Oct 2011
When it comes to choosing your wedding venue everyone thinks about Hotels and function rooms. But what happens when you start to think and look outside the box. You discover a whole new world of unique wedding venues that will make your wedding a talking point for years.
You could go just that little bit different perhaps a venue like the Physic Garden of the British Medical Association. But if you want to go further out side of the box perhaps a reception among the bones of The Natural History Museum.
If you don’t want to keep your feet on land what about a sailing barge or The London Eye. If speed & steam is your thing what about the National Railway Museum. For those of you who want a real unique experience why not try The Caves in Edinburgh. But most importantly of all choose a wedding venue that feels right for you, after all it is your day.
A #TOWIE Hen Night Could You?
Sun 02 Oct 2011
It’s that time of year again girls when you either love or hate Mark and wish Arg would just loose that puppy fat. Once again The Only Way Is Essex has hit our screens. So has any one thought about having a #TOWIE Hen Do fake bake is a must, but white high heels are optional. What else would you need well let’s see a big bling ring, something to show your chest off? and of course something blonde.
Why not go that step further and get your girls down to Brentwood and party away at the Sugar Hut. The Bride and Hens could even join in at the Reem Party nights. So are TOWIE Hen Nights going to be the next big thing? Perhaps you could even be the next Sugar Hut Hunny.
Hen Night Destination Unknown - Cockermouth
Fri 30 Sep 2011
The second of our Hen Night destination unknown blogs is the West Cumbria town of Cockermouth. This small market town on the edge of the Lake District is not only made famous by its name but also by the floods of 2009.
But since the floods the town has revamped and renovated beyond it’s former glory and has something to offer every Hen Do. It’s has great lively pubs all within walking distance of each other. It also has more than 22 restaurants to choose from for your last night of freedom meal. It’s got a great choice of accommodation to, from the 4 star Trout Hotel to B&B’s and the Travel Lodge.
Great times for the Hen Party are the July music festival known as Cock Rock or the Taste Cumbria food festival in September.
There are great daytime activities available from spa days, paint balling and walking or why not take to the lakes for water sports.
Getting to Cockermouth by Car is easy straight up the A1 to Scotch Corner and along the A66. Coming from the northwest or midlands then just take the M6 and exit at Penrith for the A66. By train you need to get to Penrith and then catch the X4 or X5 bus or you can go to Carlisle and get the 600. National Express also services the town with a daily London service. The council hasn’t made up its mind on an Airport yet so in the mean time Manchester and Newcastle are the best bets.
But the best thing about a Hen Night in Cockermouth is it’s not over run with them and is suitable for Hen’s of all ages.

A Caution About Weddings Overseas
Sat 24 Sep 2011
Many people choose to have the big day outside of the UK. This adds a whole new ball game into planning the big day. You will have extra insurance to sort out flights, excess baggage charges and language barriers to overcome. However you will also have the local wildlife to contend with on the day. As this couple found out it’s not just the invited guests who like wedding cake

Hen Night Destination Unknown - Doncaster
Tue 30 Aug 2011
Over the next few weeks we shall be posting blogs about the not so well known Hen Night destinations. Destinations that still offer you a great selection of nightlife and activities without being over run with Hen Parties.
Our first such not so well known Hen Night destination is the South Yorkshire town of Doncaster. Set close to the North Lincolnshire, West Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire boarder. This town offers a wide variety of bars, restaurants and daytime activities. Doncaster is often over shadowed as a Hen Do destination by its neighbours Leeds & York.
Doncaster is easy to get to no matter what mode of transport you use by car it’s situated close to the A1 and M62. For those travelling by train it has one of the best served train stations outside of London. With regular direct services from London, Scotland, Newcastle, York, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield and Southampton to name but a few. If you fancy flying that’s not a problem as it has an airport close to the town centre. That isn’t over loaded with passengers and traffic like the major airports. Doncaster Robin Hood Airport is served from Ireland, Jersey, and Belfast City.
Great daytime activities are available in Doncaster and the surrounding area including Greyhound racing and horse racing at the centrally located racecourse. Ice skating and bowling are also available at Doncaster Dome. For those wanting something more flying lessons are available at the airport or why not try a parachute jump.
At night Doncaster is one of the most vibrant towns in the north of England but the best thing it’s not over run with Hen Parties. Meaning your Hen Party will stand out from the crowd. The town centre has a typical pub/bar circuit feel to it with a mixture of branded and independent establishments to choose from. For eating, drinking and dancing until the early hours. On top of this Doncaster Dome hosts a range of evening events and acts.
Doncaster has a range of accommodation available from Travel Lodges to B & B’s to more up market hotels often offering spa days. All in all Doncaster offers Hen Nights the great Hen Party experience any big city can without been over run with hens & Stags.

The Changing Face Of The 21st Century Hen Do
Wed 03 Aug 2011
As someone who organises hen weekends in Spain and, being of a certain vintage (but by no means old thank you very much), I’ve seen my fair share of hen do's over the years.
From my base in Spain’s Lloret de Mar I’ve seen and organised it all, from rampaging groups of girls who are not happy until they have a cocktail in their hands and are dancing on the tables of the local nightclubs, to more, how can I say, sophisticated ladies who want a relaxing break with some fine food and harmless fun. No matter which category you fall into, the fact of the matter is that the idea of a ‘typical’ hen do is changing – in fact I’m not sure if it even exists anymore!
Adventurous Hens
What do I mean? Well, people are trying new things. Sure you still will see the classic hen night – these will never go away, and why should they? Us girls love to party, especially when dressed up in hen bunny ears and hen party costumes like those found at Funky Hen. But you’ll also get hens doing things or going places they wouldn’t have done twenty years ago, like coming over here to Spain and going on a shopping trip of a lifetime; enjoying a blissful catamaran cruise; a spa pamper day or paintballing in the wild woods.
The advice from Aunty is this: do what you want on your hen do. If you and your girlfriends love nothing more than getting oily with some hot strippers, playing a starring role on the karaoke stage and necking a few shots, do so! But if that doesn’t float your boat, or you want to do something totally different, get yourself out to Spain and into some fab activities, like hen quad biking or horse riding for example, or even a hen Paella cooking course! Don’t feel you have to abide by some sort of hen party code, just make up your own one instead!
Celebrity Hens
Just look at what the celebrities are doing for their hen dos these days. Lily Allen had hers at the Savoy Hotel in London with a cookery lesson included. Kate Moss went to the Isle of Wight music festival. Katie Price had hers at a Botox clinic (where else?). Do these fall into any sort of category? Of course not!
Aunty Andrea organises hen and stag weekends in Tossa de Mar, Lloret de Mar, Barcelona and Playa D’Aro on Spain’s gorgeous Costa Brava. Sun, sea, sangria and everything your stag or hen party desires is yours: Aunty can make it as innocent – or as exotic – as you like! http://www.auntyandreastags.com/
Surfs Up In Scarborough
Sat 30 Jul 2011
The UK professional surf tour is coming to Scarborough in October 2011 and this is being used to promote the resort to a younger generation. The competion is being used by tourism bosses to raise the profile to the british public aged under 40.
So will this mean Scarborugh could soon become the Hen Night capital of the East Coast. Or could it even mean it will take the crown from Blackpool as Northern Hen Night coastal capital. Will pink sashes and flashing boppers with L-Plates soon become the norm in Scarborough.
In the mean time enjoy our Yorkshire surfing video you never know it may inspire you to go out and brave those cold Yorkshire waters.
What do you think leave a comment and let us know.
